Lanzarote Aquarium: a plan for the entire family

The Aquarium of Lanzarote  is in Costa Teguise, precisely by the Shopping Center Trebol , in Avenida de las Acacias.

One of the pro offered by this aquarium is that it is open every day during the year. The opening timings suffer a reduction just on Christmas day and New year’s Eve.

What we can find in the Aquarium of Lanzarote

This wonderful aquarium, has 33 aquarium, for a total of more than million liters of water.

During the tour, it’s possible to see typical species of Canary Islands, for istance
sargos, morenas,  fulas and the gilded.

There are also tropical species like balloon fish, clown fish and fire dragons.

We cannot forget the impressive  sharks that  swim in their underwater tunnels. Here you can discover different species of sharks.

As last, the acuariusm count also with an interactive section, for the entire family. There are 3 tactile aquariums, where it’s possible to touch some species, such as sea ??cucumbers and sea urchins.

A special zone that remember the sea protection

Inside the Aquarium of Lanzarote, there is a zone called “rubbish aquarium” . It consist in a reproduction of the status of some of our coasts.

The aim is to raise awareness of the level of sea pollution. We need to stop and reverse this process, in order to conserve the marine biodiversity.

Program of turtles rescue

As the icing on the cake, the Aquarium of Lanzarote actively participates in a sea turtle recovery program. The pollution is super dangerous for turtles, that are usually  blocked among plastic and rubbish. These turtles are rescued and brought for veterinary checks.

When they are cured of their wounds, they are transferred to the aquarium to recover. During their stay, they receive all kinds of attention, both veterinary and nutritional.

Those who can successfully recover  can come back to the sea. Those who need more help or that are no suitable to come back to their habitat, stay in the aquarium. In this last case, they will receive several attentions, in a protect environment far away from dangers and pollution.
