The viewpoint is located at the top of Montaña de las Nieves, in the municipality of Haría, one of the island's most tranquil and less touristy areas. From here, you can see the Valley of Haría, a paradise of palm trees and white houses contrasting with the black volcanic rock and the green fields surrounding the area. Additionally, the view to the north, with the island of La Graciosa in the background, is simply spectacular.
The Mirador de las Nieves is not just a beautiful place, but also one surrounded by history and legends. Nearby stands the Ermita de las Nieves, a small chapel that holds a fascinating story passed down through generations.
According to the legend, the Virgin of Las Nieves appeared in this area one cold winter night when a shepherd took refuge in a cave on the mountain. The next morning, the shepherd found an image of the Virgin, covered by a layer of snow that had miraculously fallen over the cave. The appearance was considered a divine sign, and soon after, the chapel was built in her honor, becoming a pilgrimage site for the locals of Lanzarote and beyond. Today, the chapel remains a symbol of faith and devotion for the islanders.
